Are you a pre-university oboist looking to perfect your reed making skills? Or perhaps you haven't learned to make reeds yet? Join us this summer for the McGill 2013 Oboe Reed Making Workshop.
Students will spend five days of reed-making sessions covering everything from the beginning stages of reed construction to putting the final touches on reeds. Beginning reed makers will acquire the skills to become independent reed makers and students with reed making experience will become experts. McGill oboe professor Dr. Jacqueline Leclair and her graduate assistant Alana Henkel will guide you through the reed making process, culminating in a presentation for students' families on the final day.
The Workshop will include eight two-hour reed making classes as well as other informative sessions about the history of the oboe, maintaining and adjusting the oboe and free lessons and master classes with Dr. Leclair.
Housing will be provided one block from the Schulich School of Music in the beautiful Carrefour Sherbrooke Dormitory, a hotel style dormitory with many modern conveniences.
